Description of the 2020 Sac Open Studios new “virtual” format. Check it out!
2020 is the 15th Anniversary of Sac Open Studios, held each year over two weekends in September. I always look forward to this special event and visiting Verge Center for the Arts and various artist studios.
SacramentoRevealed.com – All Things Sacramento (from a personal perspective)
Like so many other events this year, the 2020 Sac Open Studios will be held “virtually” due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the bright side – you may well find yourself able to “visit” with more of the artists than possible in-person!

Sac Open Studios Kickoff – September 9
The Sac Open Studios Kickoff will be held starting at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9.
How will the new Sac Open Studios “virtual” format work? To find out, I registered for the Kickoff Zoom webinar. You may want to do so as well so you can make the most of the scheduled events.
The webinar will teach attendees how to:
- watch and engage with the artists
- get a peek at the works of art in the Preview Exhibition.
Conversations with Artists
The audience can ask questions of the artists, making these “conversations” interactive. Each artist conversation is allotted 15 minutes. Multiple artists are grouped into themes:
- Ceramics and Sculpture
- Colorful Compositions
- Mixed Media
- Natural World (The)
- Objects and People
- Painting Daily Life
- Wearable Art
- 2D and Installation
To view the interviews head on over to the Sac Open Studios page on Verge Center for the Arts website (see link above).
Virtual Livestream events will take place throughout September hosted by individual artists on their Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Preview Exhibition – September 10-27
Every year during Sac Open Studios I have enjoyed stopping by Verge Center for the Arts to view this exhibit of artworks by multiple artists. Unfortunately, COVID-19 guidelines prevent the public from visiting the facility at this time.
Another reason I am glad that I registered for the Sac Open Studios Kickoff on September 9!
Check out the Sac Open Studios Guide for everything you need to know in order enjoy this year’s event.
