Description of the recent Art by Fire annual one-day show and sale held at the (Iva Gard) Shepard Garden & Arts Center located on the corner of McKinley Blvd. and 33rd Street in East Sacramento.
Each Fall the Northern California Art by Fire Group (formerly known as the Sacramento Potters Group) holds its annual Art by Fire show and sale at the Shepard Garden and Arts Center.

The change from Sacramento Potters Group to the Northern California Art by Fire Group was made to better reflect the membership of the organization.
Art by Fire is not just a name for the event – to participate in the annual Art by Fire show the artists must make their art by fire.
You can now “like” a blog post and share it with friends on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn!
I enjoy this annual event each year as there is always a great selection of beautiful handmade pottery, glass, sculpture, and other works of art for sale.
While I am not artsy, I do know and appreciate quality crafted works of art (both practical and decorative). The event is also a great time to chat with the artists about their work, methods, etc.

Upon entering the Shepard Garden and Arts Center a list of participating artists along with their space number was made available. The 38 artists had their wares displayed both inside the building and outside on the patio.
I took my time as I made my way from one display to another. I did not plan to make a purchase – but I had money with me just in case. As it turns out, I did make a small purchase – a decorative piece of art for my garden.
If you missed this year’s Art by Fire show and sale you may want to check out the Art by Fire Seconds Sale that takes place each January at the same location.
The Seconds Sale offers you an opportunity to purchase, at a reduced price, goods judged to be less than perfect. As someone who has often stopped by the Seconds Sale, I for one have often been hard put to spot any flaws in the items offered. I call that a win-win!
