Description and review of the B Street Theatre Season Preview. B Street Theatre celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2026!
B Street Theatre held its annual upcoming season preview for subscribers on a recent Sunday. I arrived shortly before the doors opened, having given myself ample time in case parking was an issue. Luckily there was plenty of parking in the immediate vicinity.

After checking in at the box office, I made my way to the bar area for a Happy Hour glass of wine ($6). I chatted with a few people as we waited for the doors to the Sutter Theatre to open. The larger 380 seat Sutter Theatre is where both musical and family theatre performances are held.
Lyndsay Burch, the B Street Theatre CEO and Executive Director, started things off. Among other things she mentioned that B Street Theatre had been awarded the 2025 Outstanding Theatre award by the National Theatre Conference.
Several of the longtime cast members performed a skit reminiscing about how B Street Theatre came to be, thanks to co-founders Timothy and Buck Busfield. Buck announced his retirement in January, 2022, and passed the reins to Lyndsay that summer.
Various cast members introduced the audience to the upcoming offerings, both describing a bit about the plot and in many instances performing a partial scene from the play. Both Mainstage and Family Series plays were featured.
The purpose of the annual season preview is to get the audience excited about the upcoming season, and I think it is safe to say – mission accomplished.
Mainstage Theatre
The Mainstage Theatre will feature a nice mix of seven plays and one Special Engagement in 2026. Misery, an adaption of the Stephen King novel, sounds intriguing. I liked the movie. Also included in the lineup is Working For Crumbs, the winner of the 2025 New Comedies Festival, and Primary Trust, the winner of the 2024 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Also of note is An Irish Goodbye by Jack Gallagher, returning for one last time after selling the family home in Land Park and moving to the East Coast to be closer to family as he and his wife age.

An original holiday play is a long-standing tradition at B Street Theater and the upcoming season is no exception. When Martha Met Kris: The Santa Claus Love Story will play in December.
Special Engagement
In 2026, B Street Theatre will provide the venue for a brand-new musical by Carolyn Smith Bryant, Desmond Child and Sharon Vaughan. The musical, Dream, Dream, Dream, The Love Story & Songs of Felice & Boudleaux Bryant will follow one of the most iconic song writing duos of the 20th century. Stay tuned!
