Overview of Photography Month Sacramento. April 2018 is the first of what is planned to be a bi-annual event for the visual arts.
I have been looking forward to April and the first Photography Month Sacramento since I first heard about it a few months ago! This new event is spearheaded by Roberta McClellan, the Executive Director of the Viewpoint Photographic Art Center. Viewpoint Photographic Art Center is a non-profit located in Midtown Sacramento.

What is Photography Month Sacramento?
During the month of April, a series of events and activities are scheduled throughout the region. Participants and others create their own events (exhibits, lectures, workshops, etc.) and the list of events is compiled and made available to the public.
The list of over thirty events taking place in and around Sacramento during the month of April is quite impressive! The events include “on location” photography workshops. The workshops include (in the Cache Creek Nature Preserve) Plant Photography and Photographing the Natural World. Workshops in Historic Locke include Photographing People and Locke Delta Landscape Photography.
Participants
Participating educational institutions include CSU (Sacramento State), American River College, Sierra College and Sacramento City College. Various area museums, including the Crocker Art Museum, California State Railroad Museum, California Automobile Museum and Aerospace Museum of California are holding events, as are a variety of local art galleries (Brickhouse, Viewpoint, Axis, ARTHOUSE, Blue Line Arts).
I expect to attend several events this month associated with this exciting new event. You may want to check out the list and take advantage of the opportunity to attend one or more events as well.
