(UPDATED 4/29/2021) TEDxSacramento has been inactive for some time now, much to my disappointment. If you have any intel, please add a comment and share. Thanks!

Many of you are likely to be familiar with TED Talks (TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design) – but not all of you may know that Sacramento has its very own TEDxSacramento.
Founded in 2009, TEDxSacramento was created to give Sacramento-area communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.
After years of listening to TED Talks on public radio while in the car and watching TED Talks on TED it was only last year (2015) when I attended my first TEDxSacramento event.

TEDxSacramento held its 2016 major event in February at the Sacramento Community Center Theater. Talk about a well-organized event! It was announced that approximately 125 volunteers had “made it happen” and that over 2,000 attendees had registered.
The theme of this year’s major event was “What’s Next” – an opportunity to look forward to the future. The speakers covered a wide variety of thought-provoking topics and included an internet pioneer, a musical explorer, an entrepreneurship expert, a neurosurgeon, and a singer/songwriter, among others. The program was both varied and interesting.
The video’s from the February event have recently been posted on YouTube. Check them out!
Following up after the February 2016 event I “applied” to be a volunteer for upcoming TEDxSacramento events – and recently attended my first volunteer meeting. If you haven’t yet attended a local event keep your eyes and ears open for upcoming opportunities. You will be glad you did!
