Description of the 2020 Sacramento Vegan Chef Challenge – the COVID-19 Take-Out Edition.
The 10th Annual Sacramento Vegan Chef Challenge is now underway! The event takes place October 1 – 31, so there is plenty of time to check out multiple restaurants and their special offerings.
Participants this year includes twenty-two Sacramento restaurants, seven outlying restaurants, and twelve Pop-Ups.
Outlying restaurants are:
- Elk Grove – Todo Un Poco, Pizza Bell
- Fair Oaks – Wild Rooster Bistro
- Folsom – Brick House
- Rancho Cordova – Pho Fresh
- Rocklin – ZEST Kitchen
- Roseville – Vegan Plate

A number of the restaurants have participated in previous Vegan Chef Challenges. For example, last year Capitol Garage was recognized as the “Longest Participating Venue” (2011-2019) and will obviously retain its title as it is once again participating.

After checking out the menus for this year’s Vegan Chef Challenge I made a list of the offerings I would like to try before the month is over. While I am by no means vegan, nor vegetarian for that matter, I do like a variety of dishes that just happen to be vegan.
As always, the Vegan Chef Challenge organizers are asking participants to vote for and comment on their favorite menu items. I have not to date submitted comments on the vegan dishes I have sampled in previous years – but I might this year.
