Description and review of Capitol Garage, a restaurant and bar located in Downtown Sacramento near the Convention Center.
A friend and I recently stopped by Capitol Garage for lunch prior to attending a memorial at the nearby Hyatt Hotel. It had been years since I was there. Before I retired, I would sometimes meet a friend there for lunch or pick up a sandwich to go.
The last time I was there, as I recall, it was on a weekend when a friend and I enjoyed brunch and bottomless mimosas on the patio.

Capitol Garage
We were seated shortly after entering as there were several tables still open. They were, however, soon filled. It was a bit chilly and no one was seated on the outside patios, although I noted there were portable heaters.
Capitol Garage has a full bar, and is known for both its Bottomless Mimosas and Saturday night Dinner & Drag show.
Menu
The breakfast/lunch menu offers a variety of house baked goods (scones, pastries, etc.), classic breakfasts (pancakes, French toast, omelets, home fries, etc.), as well as a variety of burgers, sandwiches and salads.
There is also a dinner menu that includes additional menu choices such as salmon and penne. All three menus are vegetarian and vegan friendly.
Note: Capitol Garage adds a “Supply Chain Surcharge” of 2.50% to each bill.
Breakfast/Lunch
Breakfast for lunch appealed to my friend, while I was more in the mood for lunch. She ordered coffee ($2) and I opted for Iced Tea ($3).
Breakfast Tacos (cheddar, smoked bacon, scrambled eggs, spicy sour cream, salsa roja) ($12) was the choice of my friend.
I ordered the Garlic Chicken Sandwich (seared garlic chicken, pepperoncini, tomato, fresh mozzarella, red onion, spinach, basil aioli on ciabatta bun with fries) ($16).
Food/Service Review
When our meals were finally served, after what seemed as an excessively long wait, we were really hungry. I overheard other diners nearby also commenting on the wait. However, I must add that the service otherwise was good.
The breakfast tacos were a big hit. The dish was not only visually appealing, it was said to be very tasty. My garlic chicken sandwich was also very good, but I did find it rather messy to eat.
To Sum Up
To sum up, I will likely stop by Capitol Garage to enjoy another meal in the future, but not when I have to be somewhere else at a certain time afterwards.
