Description and review of take-out lunch from Coconut River Park, a Thai restaurant located in the River Park neighborhood of East Sacramento.
A friend recently dropped by to bring me a bag full of her homegrown tomatoes and eggplant. Yum! Every year she plants a large garden, and I am always happy to be the recipient of some of her garden bounty.

She also brought lunch with her – takeout from Coconut River Park. We sat under the umbrella at my backyard table (appropriately socially distanced, of course) and enjoyed lunch while we caught up on the latest news. It was a beautiful day with a light breeze. One could not have asked for a nicer day.

A state employee who is working from home, she had taken the day off – a furlough day. She was spending her furlough day washing the windows of her house, never a fun project.
The timing of our lunch was well planned. That morning she had washed half of the windows while they were in the shade. After relaxing over our midday lunch, the remainder of her windows would be in the shade and ready to be washed.
Coconut River Park Take-Out Lunch

Lunch consisted of two appetizers – the Fresh Rolls and the Cheese Wonton.
- Fresh Rolls (Romaine lettuce, organic tofu, carrots, cucumber and cilantro wrapped in rice paper served with peanut sauce) ($5.95)
- Cheese Wonton (deep fried cheese and herbs wrapped in a wonton served with sweet chili sauce) ($6.95)
The combination of super-healthy and deep-fried not-so-healthy was perfect, and I enjoyed both dishes. Both the peanut sauce and sweet chili sauce were spot on.
There was no way I could have finished the Fresh Rolls at one seating, but the leftovers did not go to waste. I added the filling to a green salad I made that evening to accompany dinner. As for the Cheese Wonton, I ate all but one for lunch and finished the lone leftover wonton with dinner.
