Original Post
The month of September is an ongoing celebration of Sacramento as America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital. One of popular annual events is the Farm-to-Fork Legends of Wine.
The fifth annual Farm-to-Fork Legends of Wine ($65) took place on September 14. Wine legends Darrell Corti and David Berkley select the best wines from the Sacramento region to be served at the event. The wines are then paired with local artisan cheeses and other bites.

The evening event was held on the State Capitol grounds in front of the west steps of the State Capitol Building (10th Street and Capitol). It was a beautiful setting. Looking to the west of the venue, one could watch the sunset over the Tower Bridge.

About the Event
Two friends and I decided to attend the Farm-to-Fork Legends of Wine event this year. It was our first time. The first person to arrive had secured seats for us at a table. It was great to have a “home base” so that we could relax and enjoy our food and drink.
As we entered the venue we were provided with a stemless wine glass – which we all made good use of.
It was a beautiful, mild evening – just perfect for an outdoor event. The event was well attended – but not overly crowded.
Numerous regional wineries had booths set up around the perimeter of the venue, and each winery was pouring their very best wines. I sampled a variety of wines from different wineries and enjoyed each one. Darrell Corti and David Berkley know their wines.
The tables set with cheese and crackers were very popular. We all took advantage of the opportunity to sample the amazing variety of artisan cheeses offered. Among the other bites offered were lamb sliders, pie “pops” on a stick and gelato.

To sum up, we all agreed as we left the venue that attending the Farm-to-Fork Legends of Wine was a very enjoyable way to spend the evening.
More Farm-to-Fork Events
You may have missed Farm-to-Fork Restaurant Week (September 8 – 18), and more than likely were unable to obtain tickets for the September 24 Tower Bridge Dinner (sold out at $199 per ticket) – but you can still plan to attend the Farm-to-Fork Festival on September 23rd from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The free festival, which is held on Capitol Mall, showcases local food and drink produced in the Sacramento region. Food, wine and beer as well as live music, cooking demonstrations, activities for kids, and food samples as well as swag are just some of the things you will find at the Farm-to-Fork Festival. There is even a free bike valet!
I plan to attend the Farm-to-Fork Festival – maybe I will see you there!
