Description and review of Genki Kitchen, a Japanese restaurant located in the 57th Street Antique Mall in East Sacramento.
Our group of four, prior to attending a performance at B Street Theatre, decided to catch a bite to eat at Genki Kitchen during its soft opening in September. Genki Kitchen is in the space that previously housed the Hawaiian restaurant, Kau Kau. Modifications of the space were minimal.

We were greeted upon arrival and immediately shown to a table. Members of our party asked a few questions of our server, but it did not take long for us to settle on our individual choices.
Menu
To start off, two of us ordered a glass of chardonnay ($9). The other two decided to share a bottle of Nigori (cloudy sake) ($15.95). Our server brought to our table a complementary cucumber salad for us to nibble on while we waited for our main course.
Three of us ordered the Bento Box (miso soup, steamed rice, salad, choice of two items ($22.95), while the fourth ordered the Chicken Katsu Don (deep fried chicken cutlet, egg and onion simmered together in a house sauce over rice) ($19.95).
Review
My Bento Box choices were the Salmon Teriyaki and the Mixed Tempura which included two shrimp. The salmon was delicious, and the tempura was a nice mix of vegetables done just right. My fellow diners chose to include in their Bento Box either the Chicken Teriyaki or the Beef Teriyaki. All opted for the Mixed Tempura.
Everyone at the table was pleased with their choices, and several of us took leftovers with us for the next day.
To Sum Up
To sum up, the consensus was that that the pricing was reasonable for the value received.
While we were there several take-out meals were picked up, but only a few diners were in the restaurant when we departed for our play. Hopefully their clientele has increased since September.
