(Updated 12/28/2021) Description and review of Mimosa House, routinely voted #1 in the annual “Best of Sacramento” brunch category.
About Mimosa House
Mimosa House is a local chain of five restaurants (East Sacramento, El Dorado Hills, Roseville, Rancho Cordova, Folsom) owned and operated by the Dedier Family. The restaurant is routinely voted as having the best brunch in the annual “Best of Sacramento” poll – with good reason.
For long-time residents of Sacramento – the East Sacramento Mimosa House is located in the old Shakey’s Pizza Parlor building.

East Sacramento Mimosa House Parking
Mimosa House has a small parking lot, and parking in the vicinity of the popular restaurant is challenging. Neighboring businesses and some residences have had to resort to posting signs as to where one cannot park.
We were lucky that morning, and found a spot on a nearby residential street a short walk from the restaurant. When parking on a residential street you will want to ensure that you are not blocking anyone’s driveway.
Mimosa House Brunch
Two friends and I visited Mimosa House on a weekday. As we intended to eat outdoors, we had all dressed warmly – and we were glad we did! The sun was out, but it was COLD.
The restaurant was crowded, and there were several people waiting to be seated when we arrived. The Mimosa House in East Sacramento is a favorite of students from the nearby Sac State campus.
We asked to be seated outside and were immediately shown to the side patio once we confirmed that we understood the outdoor heaters had not been fired up. The covered patio provided some protection from the breeze.
Beverages
To start, each of us ordered coffee and two of us ordered mimosas. Mimosa House offers over 100 different mimosa flavor combinations! My friend ordered the Mimosa House Classic (fresh squeezed orange juice and house bubbles) ($6) and I ordered the Baja Sunrise Mimosa (mango, lime, passion fruit, strawberry and house bubbles ($6). Both drinks were good-sized and tasty.
The coffee ($3.20) was served in extra-large cups, and was judged by all to be a very good cup of coffee.
Mimosa House Menu
The Mimosa House has an extensive menu including omelets, benedicts, skillets, breakfast burritos and crepes. All three of us chose an our meal from different sections of the menu.
From the Classic Breakfast menu:
- Basic Canadian Bacon (2 slices grilled Canadian bacon with 2 eggs any style with choice of hash browns or house potatoes) ($11.50).
From the Crepes menu:
- Parkway Crepe (crepe stuffed with bacon, sausage, ham, onion, pepper, mixed cheese, mushroom, tomato and topped with sour cream and avocado with choice of hash browns or house potatoes) ($12.95).
From the South of the Border menu:
- Mom’s Morning Tacos (3 scrambled eggs, carnitas, mixed cheese, avocado, pico de gallo with a side of house frijoles) ($13.25).
The friend who ordered the Canadian Bacon Classic Breakfast added an English Muffin for $1 (fruit is another add-on option). He commented favorably on the quality of the Canadian Bacon and the hash brown potatoes.
The crepe was filling and very tasty, and I likewise was happy with my hash brown potatoes.
The Mom’s Morning Taco’s was said to be delicious and my friend commented in particular on the tenderness and flavor of the carnitas.
To Sum Up
In conclusion, despite being seated outside with only one other party sharing the patio, our server made sure that we were well taken care of. The only minor hiccup was the arrival of the English muffin after my friend had consumed most of his meal.
With both an extensive menu to choose from and reasonable prices it is no wonder Mimosa House is the top vote getter in the annual “Best of Sacramento” poll.
