Description and review of Revolution Winery and Kitchen, an urban winery located in Midtown Sacramento.
A friend and I recently met at Revolution Winery and Kitchen for Happy Hour. The winery and restaurant opened in 2007, and I have enjoyed brunch, lunch, happy hour and dinner there over the years.
Revolution Winery and Kitchen is located on S Street around the corner from Refill Madness and the Sacramento Natural Food Co-Op.

The Venue
The small bar/restaurant is an attractive space. The adjacent shaded patio is a great place to enjoy beverages and a meal during Sacramento’s balmy weather.

Revolution Winery
Revolution Winery sources their grapes locally in the greater Sacramento region, and all wine is made on-site. Wine Club members enjoy a variety of benefits, including an All-Day Happy Hour on Wednesdays and special functions in the Barrel Room.
In order to reduce the winery footprint, the Revolution Wine bar offers its wines on tap. Additionally, it offers a Renew Program, a refillable bottle program from its custom wine-on-tap system, thus reducing the number of wine bottles entering the waste stream.
Happy Hour
My friend was seated at the bar when I arrived. She was sipping a glass of red wine and enjoying a bowl of the Potato Leek Soup (potatoes, leeks, crispy onion, herbs) ($10). As I joined her, I noticed the Vegan Chef Challenge menu next to the Happy Hour menu. The Vegan Chef Challenge takes place every October in Sacramento. Revolution Winery and Kitchen has always had a focus on plant-based dishes, and it is a long-time participant in the event.
I ordered a glass of the Happy Hour red ($10). While I have enjoyed their whites in the past, I tend to prefer Revolutions’ reds.
We enjoyed an hour or so catching up on the latest news, and afterwards I headed home to finish making dinner. I had put its preparation aside when I received the invite to join her.
