(Updated 8/15/23) Compilation of dog friendly restaurants in Sacramento, restaurants where both you and your canine companion are welcome.
Sacramentan’s love their canine companions, and many of us seek out dining establishments that welcome our (well-behaved) friends.
Luckily, Sacramento’s weather allows us to dine outdoors virtually twelve months a year. Additionally, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the venues offering outdoor dining dramatically increased thanks to business-friendly policies adopted by the city.

Depending on the season, many Sacramento restaurants offer patio dining featuring fans/misters and/or portable heaters/fire pits. Only certain patio’s are covered or partially covered, however, a drawback during inclement weather.
Most-Dog Friendly Cities in America – 2022 Edition

Sacramento Statistics (per Smart Asset):

- Dog Friendly Restaurants – 133
- Dog-Friendly Shopping Centers – 4
- Pet Stores & Vet Offices – 52 per 10,000 establishments
Dog Friendly Restaurants in Sacramento
Not every restaurant listed necessarily has an outdoor “patio” area. In some cases, the outdoor seating may be a few tables on the sidewalk outside the establishment.
While a number of restaurants have more than one patio, the dog friendly patio is the patio that does not require entry into the restaurant itself. For example, to access the dog friendly patio at Streets of London Pub you must enter the back patio area via the alley. Similarly, the patio at Scott’s Seafood on the River in entered at the back of the building on the river side.
Dining with your friend also becomes problematic if the restaurant is counter service only and it is just the two of you. I personally do not think it a good idea to leave your buddy alone outside while you place and pay for your order.
Lastly, the size of your canine companion can sometimes be an issue. Do you have a large dog and the restaurant patio is miniscule and/or narrow? It may be a much better choice to opt for a restaurant with a comfortably large patio.
The List
The following list of Sacramento dog friendly restaurants is “a work in progress”.
You can help flesh out this list by adding a comment on this blog post (below) with the name of restaurants not listed that you personally know are dog friendly. Please also include any additional pertinent information, like the neighborhood in which it is located.
Has the dog friendliness of a listed restaurant changed? If so, please share that information as well!
