Sacramento – No. 9 on Chinese Food Capitals List

(UPDATED 12/1/18)  Description of the recently released Find The Home Chinese Food Capitals list.  Sacramento ranks No. 9 of 50 on the list.

Sacramento is No. 9 on the Chinese Food Capitals of America list compiled by Find The Home, a real estate intelligence site by Graphiq.  Did you know that Sacramento has twenty-two (22) 4 to 5 star Chinese restaurants?

The 50 top Chinese Food Capitals of America list was developed by using data from Yelp.  A “Chinese Food Score” was calculated for all cities with more than 100,000 residents.

The Chinese Food Score factors in the:

• total number of Chinese restaurants in a city
• percentage of Chinese restaurants rated with four or more (out of five) stars on Yelp
• average Yelp rating of Chinese restaurants compared to the average rating of all restaurants in that city

In the event of a tie cities with a larger number of Chinese restaurants are favored.

• Average rating of Chinese restaurants in Sacramento – 3.4
• Number of Chinese restaurants in Sacramento – 79
• Number of 4 to 5 star Chinese restaurants – 22

No. 1 & No. 50

Number 1 on the Chinese Food Capitals of America list is Memphis, Tennessee, with a Chinese Food Score of 88.3.  The average rating of Chinese restaurants in Memphis is 3.5, the number of Chinese restaurants is 65, and the number of 4 to 5 star Chinese restaurants is 27.

Interestingly, Number 50 on the Chinese Food Capitals list is Knoxville, Tennessee, with a Chinese Food Score of 70.02.  The average rating of Chinese restaurants in Knoxville is 3.3, the number of Chinese restaurants is 29, and the number of 4 to 5 star Chinese restaurants is 10.

So, cities in Tennessee scored both highest and lowest on the Chinese Food Score list!

California cities on the Chinese Food Capitals of America list and their Chinese Food Score are:

• 23 – San Francisco – 76.25

So – what does this ranking of Chinese restaurants all mean? Probably not much – but it does raise a question.
