Scottish Rite Center Farmers Market

Description of the Scottish Rite Center Farmers Market, a new seasonal farmers market in the River Park neighborhood of Sacramento. 

I recently learned about a new farmers market in the River Park neighborhood.  The new Scottish Rite Center Farmers Market is a weekly market held on Wednesdays in the parking lot closest to H Street. The first market of the summer was held May 10.

The fact that the farmers market is in the afternoon-early evening (3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.) has a certain appeal.  Another big plus of this location is that the Scottish Rite Center parking lot has over 800 parking spaces with lots of shade trees.  Parking is free.

I decided to go check out the new farmers market this past Wednesday, arriving shortly after 3:00 p.m.

There were two vendors with fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as two prepared food vendors (fusion tacos and pizza).  Additionally, there were a few craft vendors (jewelry, crystals, etc.) and a purveyor of teas.

I chatted with a representative of the Camellia Society of Sacramento who was manning a table and she shared that the market has grown in size since the first market held in May – so it is possible that vendors will be added as the summer progresses.

I also learned that the Annual Sacramento Camellia Show in 2024 will be held on Saturday, March 2^nd (3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.) and Sunday, March 3^rd (10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) at the Scottish Rite Center.  So – mark your calendars!

To Sum Up

To sum up, the Scottish Rite Center Farmers Market is certainly convenient for residents of River Park and East Sacramento, as well as for students and faculty at Sac State.  Hopefully local support will help encourage additional vendors and make the new seasonal farmers market a success.
