Description and review of Seoul St. Midtown, a Korean bar and lounge/restaurant located in Downtown Sacramento.
Prior to the theatre on a recent Tuesday evening, a friend and I stopped by Seoul St. Midtown for a bite to eat and to check it out. Seoul St. Midtown, which opened in September 2022, is located in the space previously occupied by DeVere’s Irish Pub. The premises had obviously been completely gutted to make way for what is now a very modern and open space venue with plenty of seating.

We arrived around 5:30 p.m. and were immediately seated. Our attention was focused on the Happy Hour menu of Korean-inspired street food small plates and Korean themed cocktails and mocktails.
The venue had started to fill up a bit after we had arrived, and later several patrons opted to sit at the long bar in order to be immediately seated. From the start, we had remarked to each other on the volume of the music (i.e., too loud). As the place filled it became even more difficult to easily converse.
Seoul St. Midtown Menu/Review
Happy Hour Menu
We ordered two small plates from the $8 Happy Hour menu – the crispy pot stickers ($8) and the Bulgoli beef taco’s ($8.). There were also several great-sounding cocktails on the $8 menu. I opted for a glass of the Oyster Bay Chardonnay ($8.).
We enjoyed both the pot stickers and the Bulgoli beef tacos. The tacos had a generous amount of tasty and tender beef. The sauce served with the pot stickers made that dish.
Main Menu
The main menu is compact, offering assorted starters ($6.95-$12.95), hot skillets ($17.95-$24.95), and specials ($12-95-$19.95), among other things. The “Dosirak Boxes” (choice of BBQ chicken ($14.95) or La Galbi ($17.95) with rice, pot stickers, side salad with miso dressing & house sides) caught my eye to try on a future visit.
Service
Kevin, our server that evening, was both friendly and attentive, despite being quite busy once Seoul St. became more crowded. As he brought our order to the table, he mentioned, in response to a comment, that the server-robot was out-of-order.
At one point I knocked over my glass of wine as I was “talking with my hands”, and he not only thoroughly wiped the table, he also brought me a complementary glass of wine to replace it! Needless to say, he received an extra good tip.
As an aside: The visit to Seoul St. Midtown was the highlight of the evening, as the 50th Anniversary production of Jesus Christ Superstar was a huge disappointment. There was no intermission, but if there had been we were both of a mind to leave early! The first time we both saw Jesus Christ Superstar, together as it happens, it was a memorable performance. As a result, we both unfortunately had high expectations that were not even close to being met.
To Sum Up
My friend and I plan to return to Seoul St. Midtown which is conveniently located near the Convention Center. She is very interested in trying out some of the delicious sounding cocktails, and both of us would like to sample additional items on the menu.
