Description and review of The Coconut River Park, a Thai restaurant that recently opened in the River Park neighborhood of East Sacramento.
A friend invited me to join her for lunch on a recent Sunday at The Coconut River Park. The restaurant opened in early January.
The Coconut River Park is located in the strip mall on Carlson Drive. My friend had noted that all of a sudden the strip mall parking lot had a lot of activity and she was delighted to find out that a new Thai restaurant had opened its doors.

The restaurant is a sister restaurant to The Coconut on T Street and the Drunken Noodle on J Street.

We entered The Coconut River Park shortly after it opened at noon that Sunday. There were already several tables occupied by eager patrons.

The restaurant is small, but well-laid out for its size. In addition to the tables and chairs in the dining area there is a nice bar along the back wall with additional seating. The dining area is light and airy, and paintings on the walls add a touch of color.
The menu is similar to Coconut on T and Drunken Noodle, and the same great Happy Hour with $4 appetizers and drink specials (including a $2 beer) is offered daily.

My friend ordered the Red Curry (coconut milk, eggplant, bamboo, broccoli, bell pepper, basil) with Calamari ($12.95). I decided to order my favorite dish – Eggplant (with onions, carrots, bell pepper, broccoli, zucchini, basil with garlic chili sauce) with chicken ($10.95).

We both enjoyed our meals as we caught up on what was new with each other.
At one point, partway through my meal, I realized that I had not received the tea I had ordered, but I decided to forgo it. When it was time to pay it was not on my tab – so no issue there.
Like the other two restaurants the portions are large, and I was delighted to take home leftovers to enjoy for lunch the next day.
In conclusion, based on my brief conversations with other patrons sitting nearby, it is obvious that residents of River Park are thrilled to have The Coconut River Park in their neighborhood.
