(Last Updated 12/24/19) Description and review of the Sacramento Blue Diamond Growers Nut and Gift Shop.
(Original Post) I recently stopped by the Blue Diamond Growers Nut and Gift Shop to purchase a variety of 6 oz. cans of almonds – something I do each holiday season. The Blue Diamond Growers Nut and Gift Shop is located on C Street in Downtown Sacramento.
Customer parking is available in front of the building – but the lot was full when I arrived in the late morning. I made a second pass through the parking lot, however, and happily secured a parking spot.
The customer parking lot was busier than usual as Blue Diamond Growers had a sale going on – all 6 oz. cans of almonds were priced at $2.29 It was also the first day of the sale – which was limited to stock on hand.
The regular price of a 6 oz. can of almonds at the Blue Diamond Growers Nut and Gift Ship is $2.89 $3.19 – still a bargain if you compare the price for the same product at a local grocery store. I recently did a price check at one of the local grocery stores I patronize – the same 6 oz. can was priced $4.99.

The Blue Diamond Nut and Gift Shop has a wide variety of almonds for sale including: Smokehouse, Roasted Salted, Wasabi & Soy Sauce, Honey Roasted, Jalapeno Smokehouse, Whole Natural, Sweet Thai Chili, Toasted Coconut, Salted Caramel, Honey Roasted Chipotle, Habanero BBQ, Sriracha, Honey Dijon, and Salt & Vinegar.
Samples of the various types of almonds are available to help you decide what flavors to buy. Check out the table on your left when you enter the shop and conduct a taste test for yourself.
I purchased ten cans of assorted almonds that morning to have on hand and to give as hostess gifts. Other shoppers were also doing their holiday shopping – and buying 6 oz. cans by the case!
About Blue Diamond Growers
Blue Diamond Growers, headquartered in Sacramento, is a real success story. Blue Diamond Growers goes all the way back to 1910 when 230 almond growers first formed the cooperative. Today, the cooperative is owned by half of the state’s almond growers. It is notable that California almond growers produce over 80% of the world’s almond supply.
Blue Diamond Growers is an internationally known brand. In addition to distribution throughout the U.S., Blue Diamond Growers ships California almonds to over 90 foreign counties.

According to the Blue Diamond Growers website, almonds are not only the #1 specialty crop in the U.S., but almonds are also California’s largest food export. Additionally, the website reports that Blue Diamond Growers represents more than 3,000 multi-generational farm families who farm an average of 75 acres.
You may remember the successful marketing campaign Blue Diamond Growers ran XX years ago now – “A can a week, that’s all we ask.” The phrase popped into my mind as I approached the building – that is what I call a successful marketing campaign!
(UPDATED 12/24/19) Not mentioned previously is the availability of pre-made gift baskets (for when you need a gift in a hurry). I should also mention that you can arrange for the shipping of your purchase (via UPS) on the spot! Note: The price of a 6 oz can of almonds is now $3.19.
(UPDATED 10/20/17) Blue Diamond Almonds was voted #1 in the Sacramento Magazine 2017 Best of Sacramento survey for Product Made in Sacramento.

I really enjoyed this article. One of my friends is now an almond grower (small acreage) so she proudly displays the sign that she is a “Blue Diamond” grower. I’m passing this info on to her.
Thanks, Kathy
Glad to know!
