Plant Foundry Nursery and Store is located in Oak Park at 3500 Broadway (Broadway Triangle). Owner Angela Pratt opened up for business in September, 2015. Pratt studied horticulture at U.C. Davis, and previously worked at Talini’s Nursery in East Sacramento.
This attractive retail garden center replaces an old tire shop – and is a most welcome addition to the neighborhood.
I headed over to the Plant Foundry one recent Tuesday with a 10% off coupon in hand. Tip: Check out “Special Offers” on the Plant Foundry website for a 10% off on Tuesday coupon.
Available at this Sacramento urban nursery are edible and ornamental plants including California Native plants, fruit trees, artisan goods (pottery), and everything you need for gardening – seeds, potting soil, soil amendments, vegetable and herb starts, etc. Also check out their tools, garden art, patio sets and gifts.

In addition to everything you would expect a nursery to have on hand, Plant Foundry also carries one-of-a-kind artisan-themed chicken coops crafted by Brian Fikes and Greg Howes of Two Flew the Coop, another local Sacramento based business (find them on Facebook)
It was a beautiful day and I spent an enjoyable half-hour looking over all the plants and other goods before deciding on my purchase. While the Plant Foundry is not huge size-wise they carry a very good selection of plants – both sun and shade. The staff was very helpful and glad to answer any questions I had. I thought that the plant prices were quite reasonable, and the plants were obviously very healthy. I especially liked the fact that so many of the plants they carry are bee-friendly.
I had no problem finding a parking space – but then it was a weekday. Parking is available in the small lot across the street from the Plant Foundry (adjacent to the Guild Theatre) on 35th Street and well as on nearby streets in back of the business (4th Avenue).
I will definitely add the Plant Foundry to my list of places to go when I am in the market for plants and gardening supplies.
