Description and review of Summer Porch, a shop selling new and vintage items for the home and garden located on J Street in East Sacramento.
It was a spur of the moment decision to stop by Summer Porch recently. Summer Porch is located on J Street in the small strip mall that also houses 3 Hermanas and Club Raven among other small businesses.

I was particularly on the lookout for what I would describe as “tasteful” garden art. Summer will, after all, be here before we know it!
I was greeted upon entering by the owner, and I took my time looking over her beautifully organized and displayed wares – and there was a lot to see!

Among other things, Summer Porch carries rustic home and garden furniture, collectables, vintage glassware, linens, costume jewelry, soaps and candles, and hand-crafted signs. The quality is top-notch.
I was the only customer in the store at the time, and I struck up a conversation with the owner remarking on how it always strikes me as a bit strange seeing “vintage” glassware identical to that owned by my grandmother.
We also chatted about the possibility of having a unique rustic sign made (it can be done with a short lead-time) and about the many uses of chalk paint. Taking a chalk paint class or just trying chalk paint out on a small piece of furniture is something I would like to try my hand at.
When I am next on the lookout for a special gift I definitely plan to stop by Summer Porch to check out the possibilities. In my opinion we should all try to support small local businesses when possible.
