Description and review of Superbum Plant Company, a plant shop and artisan collective featuring an eclectic mix of vintage and new goods.
I recently stopped by to check out Superbum Plant Company. The shop, which opened in August 2021, is housed in what had been the East Sacramento Hardware building.

The owner of the building owns the adjoining buildings, including the one housing One Speed. The owner plans to raze the existing buildings and build a new mixed-use building.

However, the implementation of that plan has been delayed as the owner of One Speed, a popular restaurant in East Sacramento, holds a lease for the building housing his restaurant.

This holdup has provided Vanessa Van Vleck, the owner of Superbum Plant Company, with the opportunity to open shop in the space formerly occupied by the hardware store.

The building housing Superbum Plant Company is large, allowing plenty of room for the display of a wide variety of goods. The walls serve as display space, and in the middle of the large room wide tables are likewise filled with assorted items for sale.
Some 20 or so local artists share space in the shop. Items you will find for sale include, for example, vintage clothes and home décor, plant stands and pots, skin care and leather goods, prints, macrame hanging plant holders, prints, jewelry, etc.
The large room to the left of the entrance is devoted to thousands of vinyl albums, the majority of which are for sale for $3. I took a brief tour of the room. It is filled with tables and boxes in neat rows, each box labeled with the genre. In short, if you are into vinyl albums you will want to check it out!
Before I left, I purchased a houseplant which had been the goal of my visit. The $32 price tag for the small Aglaonema (Chinese Evergreen) was, to say the least, over the top in my opinion. However, I justified the purchase to myself as being a means of showing support for small local businesses.
To Sum Up
In conclusion, I plan to stop by Superbum Plant Company from time to time to see what new and interesting items have been added to the inventory.
