Convention Center Renovation Expansion Project
The goals of the convention center project are to:
- maximize convention market capture;
- maximize event flexibility;
- improve guest experience (circulation, access);
- maintain ongoing operations; and,
- maximize synergies with Community Center Theater.
To this end, the west side of the convention center will be demolished and then rebuilt and expanded to include a new 40,000 square foot ballroom; new meeting rooms; two new exhibit halls; and, a new kitchen.
The east side of the convention center will be renovated to build a new lobby, add new meeting rooms, and upgrade the existing ballroom, pre-function and meeting space.
The east side lobby will abut a new public activities plaza that will join the two projects.
Community Center Theater Renovation Project
The goals of the Community Center Theater Renovation Project are to:
- address accessibility issues;
- upgrade patron experience;
- improve performance capabilities;
- streamline operations and functionality;
- expand community involvement in the arts; and,
- transform the appearance.
The appearance of the building will be dramatically changed – for the better. In addition to a new acoustic system and theatrical lighting and rigging improvements, there will be new seating, expanded lobby and restroom space, new concession areas and a new 2nd floor lounge.

It’s about time. The acoustics and amenities at the convention center have been wanting for decades.
Yes, I agree!
