Sacramento is on a roll – having recently been publicly called out and thanked from the stage at the Golden Globes, touted as an up-and-coming food city by Trillist, and included in Sunset Magazine as #1 of 20 Game-Changing Places to Live.
While Sacramento has certainly been recognized on many different levels and included on various lists (some good/some not so good) over the years – the following recognition occurred within a very sort time-span – and seemed noteworthy to me.

Golden Globe Winner Lady Bird
Greta Gerwig, onstage after Lady Bird won Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy and leading lady Saoirse Ronan won Best Actress, Motion Picture Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globe said:
“I want to say thank you to my mom and dad and the people of Sacramento who gave me roots and wings and helped me to get where I am today.”

The Trillist
In The Overlooked California City That’s About To Blow Up As A Food Destination, the Trillist opines that Sacramento is “on the cusp of making it as a must-visit town for anyone who loves food.”
Sacramento – America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital – is rightly identified as the hub of America’s most abundant agricultural region – where chefs go to farmers markets and craft menus based on what’s in season and what fits best.
The consensus of those interviewed seems to be that it is only a matter of time before Sacramento is viewed as a major dining destination.
One of my favorite lines from the Trillist article is, “While the big joke about “farm-to-table” restaurants in bigger destinations is that they all have a Sysco truck parked out front, in Sacramento, they mean it quite literally”.
