Sacramento ranked #1 on the list which used recent data on, among other things, median home price/home affordability, personal income per capita, unemployment rate, diversity, community amenities, and crime rate.

#1 Sacramento
The state Capital, Sacramento was ranked #1 on the Forbes “Best Places to Live in California 2023” ranking.
Sacramento, population 525,041, has a median home price of $614,925. The median income is $65,847 and the estimated monthly expenses for a family of four is $7,927. Sacramento’s unemployment rate is 3.5%, among the lowest in the state.
Sacramento also scored 65/100 for community wellness.
