List of the Best & Worst Cities for Layovers in 2022, a comparison of the airports at the 56 largest cities in the United States.
Yet another “list” caught my eye as Sacramento is in the top 10 of the 56 cities analyzed. The list was complied by Lawn Love. You might ask why a lawn care business would compile a list ranking the best and worst cities for layovers. I don’t know, but I would guess it has something to do with the number of “clicks” lists of this type attract.

Lawn Love looked at data relating to delays, cancellations, things to do, getting around, staying and eating, affordability and safety.
Portland, OR took the #1 spot, while Fort Worth, TX took last place at #56. Portland’s overall ranking is 66.12. Fort Worth’s overall ranking is 37.28.
Sacramento at #9 ranked as follows:
- 96 – Overall Rank
- 3 – Delays
- 22 – Cancellations
- 24 – Things to Do
- 43 – Getting Around
- 36 – Stay & Eat
- 42 – Affordability
- 23 – Safety
Top 25 Best & Worst Cities for Layovers
- Portland, OR
- Boise, ID
- Anchorage, AK
- New York, NY
- Honolulu, HI
- Miami, FL
- Los Angeles, CA
- Atlanta, GA
- Sacramento, CA
- San Antonio, TX
- Seattle, WA
- San Diego, CA
- Salt Lake, City, UT
- Philadelphia, PA
- Milwaukee, WI
- San Jose, CA
- Reno, NV

Ontario, CA took the #33 spot, and San Francisco, CA came in last among California cities on the list at #42.
