Description of and link to the recently released WalletHub list of 2018 Safest Cities in America. Where does Sacramento, CA rank?
WalletHub recently released its ranking of 182 cities for its 2018 Safest Cities in America list. Sacramento ranks #116 on the list. As always, it is wise to take these “lists” with a grain of salt – but I do find them interesting – don’t you?
To determine where Americans feel most secure (home and community safety, natural disaster risk, financial safety) WalletHub compared 182 cities using 39 relevant metrics. The data used to develop the list ranged from assaults per capita to poverty rate. Note: WalletHub considered only the city proper in each case, excluding cities in the surrounding metro area.
The cities compared included the 150 most populated cities in the United States, plus at least two of the most populated cities in each state.
Ranking #1 (Safest) was Columbia, MD with a total score of 85.98.
- Home and Community Safety Rank – #4
- Natural Disaster Risk Rank – #63
- Financial Safety Rank – #34
Ranking #182 (Least Safe) was St. Louis, MO with a total score of 44.47.
