Follow-up description and review of T.H.A.I., an upscale Thai restaurant located on H Street in East Sacramento.
A friend and I recently stopped by T.H.A.I. after a neighborhood association meeting for a bite to eat. Although the weather has been getting cooler, the evening was fairly mild and several people were dining on the front patio with their canine companions.
I had noted when driving past T.H.A.I. this past summer that both the front and side patios were often filled with diners. We are so lucky in Sacramento that we have so many choices of great restaurants where we can dine al fresco!

That evening the two of us opted to sit indoors. We were greeted and seated immediately upon entering. I have always found the staff to be both welcoming and attentive.
The restaurant was about half full – but then it was a Monday and a bit after 7:00 p.m. when we arrived. We did not have reservations, but I suspect that would be a good idea – especially on the weekend or during “prime-time” during the week.

We each ordered a glass of Bogle wine ($8) while we looked over the menu. T.H.A.I. differs from many (or most) Thai restaurants when it comes to adult beverages. In addition to the usual beer and wine, T.H.A.I. offers a variety of craft drinks made with a Thai flair.
Everything on the menu sounded delicious, but as neither of us was overly hungry we focused on the soup offerings.

My friend ordered a small bowl of the Tom Kha (a creamy coconut based soup with mushrooms) with chicken breast meat ($8). She had previously had a taste of the Tom Kha when dining there with a friend and had been looking forward to ordering the dish.
We had also been provided with a special “seasonal” menu and the Pumpkin Soup ($8) had caught my eye.
My friend relished every bite of her Tom Kha. I had a taste – and it was delish! Guess what I am going to order next time I dine at T.H.A.I.?

My Pumpkin Soup was also very good – so I am by no means complaining!
