State Capitol Park World Peace Rose Garden
The State Capitol Park World Peace Rose Garden is very popular – particularly when the roses are in bloom. When I worked in Downtown Sacramento prior to retiring, I sometimes took a detour between meetings for a brief respite and to enjoy the beauty of Sacramento’s very own World Peace Rose Garden. When I did, I observed many other individuals also strolling along the walkways admiring the different colors – and taking the time to “smell the roses”. Photo taking is also a very popular pastime when the roses are in bloom.
The rose garden was created by TJ David and Sylvia Villalobos, and it features approximately 650 roses – 140+ varieties of colors and fragrances. In the center is a small courtyard with a fountain and a Peace Pavilion.
Benches are scattered throughout – so that you can also sit while you take the time to admire the view.
As you stroll around the garden keep an eye out for the 40+ plaques placed throughout with inspirational messages of peace.
